Abstract. Streamflow is often the only variable used to evaluate hydrological models. In a previous international comparison study, eight research groups followed an identical protocol calibrate 12 models using observed streamflow of catchments within Meuse basin. current we quantify differences in five states and fluxes these process-based with similar performance, systematic comprehensive way. Next, assess model behavior plausibility by ranking for set criteria remote-sensing data evaporation, snow cover, soil moisture total storage anomalies. We found substantial dissimilarities between annual interception seasonal evaporation rates, number days water stored as snow, mean maximum size root-zone capacity.
